Email Print PDF

If you like a rich, thick, sweet-spicy barbecue sauce on your ribs, then this is the perfect BBQ sauce for you.

INGREDIENTS
:

2 cups ketchup

1 small can tomato paste
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

1/4 cup onions, finely minced
3 medium garlic cloves, crushed, then finely minced
4 tablespoons cider vinegar

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water

METHOD:

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, continually stirring. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 30 to 40 minutes.

Remove from heat and allow to cool. If not using right away, cover and refrigerate. Stores well up to 2 weeks.

YIELD: 2 1/2 cups
