If you’re a regular customer, chances are you have met Chef Anne Baldzikowski at the Aptos Farmers Market where she frequently shops on Saturdays, or perhaps you’ve taken a weekend extension cooking class with her at Cabrillo College. Or, maybe you are one of the many students she’s taught over the years in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Department at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California. However you know Anne, it’s clear she’s a vital part of the Santa Cruz culinary scene and is now the author of a new cookbook, Easy Artisan: Simple Elegant Recipes for the Everyday Cook.

The premise behind her new cookbook is to show home cooksCOVER-JPEG-1 that cooking from scratch with local, high quality ingredients and using simple techniques are the secrets to creating artisan food. Anne proclaims, “I believe that cooking is an expression of love and this book will cultivate an appreciation of the cooking arts, from baking a batch of scones in the morning to cooking a pot of nourishing soup in the afternoon.”

The easy to follow recipes, from appetizers to confections, are written in a friendly step-by-step format that will help provide confidence to the novice cook. Experienced cooks will appreciate learning many of the professional techniques and tips she teaches in her culinary classes.
